ABOUT ARTHAUS

Arthaus is Norway's leading distributor of arthouse and independent films.

Established in 1992, Arthaus' aim was to secure theatrical releases of international arthouse and independent films in Norway. Arthaus was the rebel that dared to take risks in their films selection, and hence create a diversity within the film programme. It started with quirky and bold releases from auteurs like Michael Haneke, Jane Campion, Wong Kar-wai, Gaspar Noe og Tom Tykwer. Since then we've released about 500 films from promising new voices as well as established filmmakers. An arthaus film is a film that enrich, touch and excite; the films you want to talk about – and recommend to your friends. They may origin from any corner of the world and may vary in genre and audience appeal. Each year we carefully select between 12 and 15 films to our collection. Arthaus is also one of three proud owners of Oslo's first art cinema Vega Scene, which opened in november 2018. We're also a member of Europa Distribution – a network of Europe's independent distributors. Arthaus would like to thank the Norwegian Film Institute, Creative Europe MEDIA and Nordic Film and TV funds for their support.
